Welcome to Double Hart Ranch!
We have been in the pedigree assignment (PA) business since 1985 and are proud to present over 2,000 high-quality horses for your breeding needs. Please note that the horses listed on these pages are MODEL horses; they are not SIM horses or real horses -
except for in the hearts & minds of those that collect them. Any real horses noted in these pages are listed for pedigree research purposes only.
DHR uses no fictitious parents and when possible, we use real horse lineage. You will see an ® after a horses name to denote that it is a real horse. We also use other model horses in our breeding program that trace to real horses or are straight "model-bred." If you have a question about a model's lineage, please don't hesitate to ask!
As of January 2012, our ranch has gotten back into photo showing after a 10 year hiatus, so look for our stock hitting the show ring near you! I am proud to report that since 2017, Double Hart Ranch horses have brought home 840 Championships, Reserve Championships, Grand Championships, and Reserve Grand Championships!
Our ranch is a proud member of IPABRA, the International Pedigree Assignment and Bloodline Research Association. Check out their website for more information on this great organization.
On to the rules and information needed when requesting the use of a sire and/or dam:
Please include the following information when sending a request:
Foal's Name
Foaling Year (please include alternates)
Breed
Color
Markings
Gender
Make
Mold/Model Number
Finish (OF, CM, etc)
Owner's Full Name
Parents Requested
Certificates are created using Word and are emailed as a PDF file. If you cannot accept a certificate in PDF, RTF, or DOC file formats, do not submit a breeding request. I do not have the time to recreate a pedigree in SitStay or format a pedigree in the body of an email. Please allow a few weeks for your certificate to be sent to you. I try to get them back within a week, but sometimes real life gets in the way of my hobby time.
Thank you for choosing Double Hart Ranch and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. If you are looking for a certain color or breed, let me know. I probably know someone who has it.

On to the rules and information needed when requesting the use of a sire and/or dam:
- All foals must be four years younger than sire/dam
- Each mare is allowed one foal per year. In rare cases, I do allow twins; just ask in advance.
- List alternate years in case your requested year has already been taken
- When submitting a request for a Paint, pinto or Appaloosa marked horse, please include both the base color of the horse and the pattern. For example, bay sabino overo, black tobiano, blue roan with a spotted blanket, chestnut leopard, etc.
- Keep in mind real horse genetics when choosing a sire or dam. We understand that these are not real horses, but we do try to reproduce colors as if they were. If you are unsure of what colors can be produced between two horses you have chosen, please don't hesitate to ask. A good resource for calculating coat colors can be found here.
- Crossing a chestnut of any shade to another chestnut, will always produce a chestnut
- A grey or roan (regardless of base color) must have one parent of the same color. Grey and roan do not hide or skip a generation (but roan can be covered by grey)
- A tobiano must have one parent of the same pattern. Tobiano does not hide, skip a generation or crop out from two solid parents.
- Nor can two overos (sabino, frame or splash) produce a tobiano
- A cream dilute (palomino, buckskin & smoky black) must have one cream dilute parent
- A double cream dilute (cremello, perlino & smoky cream) requires that both parents be a single or double cream dilute
- A dun dilute (dun, grulla & red dun) must have one dun dilute parent.
- The dun gene is different from the cream gene that creates buckskin
- A champagne must have one parent champagne parent
